Haotian UV vs ComMarker Omni XE: Which UV Laser Fits Your Work?

Haotian UV vs ComMarker Omni XE: Which UV Laser Fits Your Work?

Quick answer: The ComMarker Omni XE is a compact 6W or 12W UV system with LiDAR autofocus, an open desktop layout, optional slider and a 3D crystal workflow. The Haotian UV Galvo is a more configurable galvo platform: 5W air-cooled, 10W or 15W water-cooled choices, selectable lenses and a rotary included with the current listing. Choose on work area, fixture setup, cooling and software workflow before comparing nominal watts.

Start with the part, not the headline wattage

If you repeatedly mark components or plaques of a known size, ask what lens field will fit them. Haotian offers a selection of lenses; a larger field can accommodate a larger part, but optical setup and line detail change with lens choice. Ask for a sample on your real substrate at the selected lens. Omni XE’s optional slide is useful for longer projects, but a slide workflow is different from enlarging the galvo’s single-pass field. Confirm the actual markable area for your fixture and chosen power tier.

Both systems use 355 nm UV light and can suit glass and many plastics that are difficult for other laser types. Results still depend on composition, surface finish, focus and process settings. Avoid assuming every clear plastic or glass blank will mark identically.

Choose the operator workflow

Omni XE’s autofocus and integrated ComMarker workflow are attractive when operators change item heights frequently or want the listed 3D crystal inner-engraving capability. Haotian suits a shop that wants an industrial-style galvo with a lens choice, a selected rotary and familiar EZCAD or compatible LightBurn workflows. Confirm software support for the exact machine controller and any specialized 3D process before ordering.

Both machines have open work areas. Provide the appropriate laser controls, extraction and eye protection for your installation. A higher-powered configuration also changes cooling and electrical planning: Haotian’s 10W and 15W options are water-cooled, while its 5W is air-cooled.

How to compare the total setup cost

The current TMC product pages list Omni XE 6W Basic at $3,249 and Haotian 5W at $5,400 when reviewed. Those are different power levels and different packages; this is not a controlled price-per-watt test. Compare the exact lens, rotary, slider, cooling, software license and extraction that your work requires. Check the live listings for current selling prices and stock.

A selectable lens field and a slide solve different size problems

Haotian's current listing lets you choose a lens from 70 × 70 mm through 300 × 300 mm when configuring the galvo. Omni XE's native field is listed as 150 × 150 mm at 6W or 250 × 250 mm at 12W; its optional slide expands the length of a staged job to 400 mm. A larger Haotian lens field is useful when one complete part or fixture must fit under the galvo in a single setup. A slide is useful for a longer design that can be processed across successive positions. Those are not interchangeable solutions.

Increasing an F-theta lens field generally spreads the available scanning area over a wider zone, so you should assess spot size, edge quality and required detail at the actual lens and material. A 300 mm field does not guarantee the same microscopic line quality as a 70 mm field. Likewise, a long-format slide job has alignment and registration considerations between stages. For a 200 mm-wide glass plaque with tiny text, ask for a sample at that size. For a 350 mm-long decorative sign, ask to see how the Omni XE slide joins the design in practice.

5W, 6W, 10W, 12W and 15W are not a straight ladder

Haotian offers 5W air-cooled and 10W/15W water-cooled UV variants. Omni XE offers 6W and 12W configurations. Power labels are only one part of the process: source, pulse behavior, optics, field size, dwell time, marking depth and substrate response matter. Do not assume the XE 6W will finish every job 20% faster than Haotian 5W, or that a Haotian 10W and an XE 12W are equivalent. Neither result follows from wattage alone.

For light surface marking on glass gifts or polymers, focus, contrast and thermal side effects can matter more than maximum output. For deeper marks, thicker or more difficult substrates, or repeated production, a higher power tier may create more process margin. The Haotian 10W/15W systems add water-cooling components and the space and maintenance that come with them. Its 5W and the XE's lower tier may be easier to place in a small shop, subject to their actual installation requirements. Ask for two samples: one representing fine detail and one representing your hardest, highest-volume job.

The software paths are meaningfully different

Haotian lists EZCAD 2 and LightBurn compatibility. The XE listing describes ComMarker Studio for integrated LiDAR autofocus, 3D crystal engraving and slide operation; it also describes LightBurn compatibility for standard surface engraving. The important question is not simply “does it support LightBurn?” It is which software performs the specific job you intend to sell. A shop already using EZCAD or LightBurn with galvo files may appreciate Haotian's familiar setup. A shop selling internal crystal portraits should verify the ComMarker Studio import and production sequence before choosing XE.

Bring a representative vector and photographic file to a demonstration. Check how each machine sets focus, how it previews a job, how rotary coordinates are established, and whether the file can be saved and reproduced by another operator. That trial often reveals the difference between a machine suited to a single expert and one suitable for several staff members processing custom orders.

Rotary packages, cooling and service need a line-by-line quote

Haotian's listing includes a choice of D60, D80 or D100 rotary and one lens selected at checkout. The XE lists separate basic, rotary, slider and ultimate bundles. The included Haotian rotary does not automatically make every cylindrical piece compatible: verify the item's weight, diameter, clearance and how it is held. On the XE, compare the rotary bundle with the basic model plus a separately sourced accessory; confirm the exact bundle contents before ordering.

Haotian's 10W and 15W configurations list a water chiller; the 5W is air-cooled. The current Haotian page lists an 18-month machine warranty, versus one year on the XE page, subject to the posted exclusions. Warranty duration is not the whole service story: confirm source coverage, who diagnoses a fault, replacement-part lead times, remote setup help and how a shop would continue producing during a repair. A 75-day TMC return policy may also affect the purchase decision, but review its conditions for your order.

Which machine fits a specific business?

Glassware and cylindrical gifts

Begin with the actual item, a photograph of its fixture and the required mark location. Haotian's included rotary choice and lens selection are appealing for a stable production station. XE can also be configured with a rotary, and autofocus may help with frequent changes in blank height. For either machine, test the curvature, edge contrast and repeatability rather than trusting a flat-sample result.

Electronics, small text and traceability

Think about the smallest code cell or character height you must verify. A smaller chosen Haotian lens field can be relevant to fine detail; the XE's autofocus and native field may be valuable when different part heights arrive all day. Request sample codes scanned after marking and after the handling or cleaning steps they will face in use.

Crystal portraits and long-format work

The XE product page explicitly offers 3D inner-crystal engraving and its slide workflow through ComMarker Studio. Do not assume the standard Haotian galvo has the same subsurface 3D process without an appropriately specified optical and software package. Conversely, a larger single-pass Haotian lens may be the simpler route for a broad flat plaque. Define the product and process before comparing chassis prices.

A practical presale sample brief

  1. Send the exact material, composition if known, dimensions and a photograph of the blank.
  2. Specify the result: surface frost, dark mark, deep mark, internal crystal image, or cut.
  3. Include your artwork and smallest text or code size, plus the maximum acceptable cycle time.
  4. Ask each seller to state the power, lens/field or slide setup, rotary or jig, cooling, software and consumables used.
  5. Compare the samples under the same lighting and evaluate yield, cleanup and repeatability, not just the best single piece.

For a price snapshot, the current TMC listings show Haotian 5W at $5,400 and Omni XE 6W Basic at $3,249. The $2,151 difference is not an apples-to-apples performance premium: the power, optical format, accessory package and platform differ. For a larger installation, quote the whole production setup. Research basis: Current Haotian UV and Omni XE listings reviewed September 21, 2026. We have not conducted a controlled material test on these two machines; ask us to arrange one for a critical purchase.

Our recommendation

  • Choose Omni XE when a compact setup, autofocus, optional slide and crystal interior engraving are central to your work.
  • Choose Haotian UV when lens-field choice, rotary work and an industrial galvo workflow are more valuable than the lower entry cost.
  • Ask for a material test if the purchase depends on a specific mark contrast, crystal blank, component size or production cycle time.

Frequently asked questions

Is Haotian 5W directly comparable to Omni XE 6W?

They are neighboring entry configurations, but the platform, lens and accessory package matter more than a 1W label difference. Compare them on your actual job.

Does Omni XE replace Omni 1 in this comparison?

Yes. Omni XE is an active product in our catalog; Omni 1 is currently a draft product. This updated guide compares the machines available in the current shopping journey.

Which is better for large work?

Start with your material dimensions and required detail. Haotian’s lens choices change the single-pass field, while Omni XE offers an optional slide for longer work. A sample and fixture plan will answer more than a generic bed-size claim.
