Description

Strip Rust, Paint, and Oil at 2000W — The Highest-Power Handheld Cleaner in the Herolaser Lineup, No Media or Chemicals Required

The Herolaser 2000W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine delivers more cleaning headroom than our 1500W model for shops running heavier corrosion, thicker coatings, or back-to-back jobs — with the same air-cooled, plug-in-and-go simplicity.

Grinding, sandblasting, and chemical strippers all remove material from a surface — they just also remove time, consumables, and often a layer of good metal along with the rust. A handheld laser cleaner replaces that whole process with a beam: point it at the surface, and the laser selectively ablates rust, paint, oil film, or coating without media, dust clouds, or harsh solvents.

The Herolaser 2000W is the higher-power tier of Herolaser's continuous-wave (CW) cleaning line, built for shops that need to move faster through heavier corrosion or thicker coatings than a 1500W unit is comfortable handling, while still running off a standard air-cooled setup with no external chiller to plumb in.

2000W of Continuous-Wave Output for Heavier-Duty Cleaning Jobs

The 2000W designation is the laser's rated continuous-wave output — the beam runs at a steady, sustained power level rather than firing in short high-peak pulses. In practice, more continuous wattage means the laser can ablate thicker rust scale, heavier mill scale, and multi-layer coatings in fewer passes than a lower-wattage unit, because there's more sustained energy hitting the surface per second. A 1500W-class machine can still clean the same materials, it just needs more passes or more time to cut through heavy buildup — so the practical benefit of stepping up to 2000W shows up most on jobs with thick or long-neglected corrosion, larger surface areas, or shops running the machine for extended stretches per day.

Continuous Wave, Not Pulsed — a Different Tool for a Different Job

Laser cleaners split into two families: pulsed and continuous wave (CW). Pulsed lasers fire extremely short, high-peak-power bursts that knock contamination off a surface with minimal heat buildup, which is why they're favored for delicate work like mold cleaning or light surface prep where the base material can't take much thermal load. CW lasers like this one instead deliver a steady beam that heats and vaporizes material continuously, which trades some of that delicacy for significantly faster material removal on heavier jobs — rust scale, paint buildup, oil and grease films, and mill scale on structural steel. The practical consequence: a CW machine like the Herolaser 2000W is the better fit for high-throughput industrial and fabrication cleaning where speed matters more than micron-level precision, while a pulsed cleaner is the better fit for detail and mold-cleaning work. Herolaser's pulsed cleaners are a separate product line — this listing is CW only.

Air-Cooled Design Rated for 8+ Hours of Continuous Duty

Herolaser rates this machine's industrial air-cooling system to hold internal operating temperature under 104°F (40°C) even after 8+ hours of continuous operation. Many high-power laser cleaners in this wattage class rely on external water chillers to manage heat — which means extra plumbing, coolant maintenance, and a second piece of equipment to haul between job sites. An air-cooled system that holds its temperature through a full shift removes that dependency: the machine is genuinely a plug-in-and-run tool rather than a chiller-tethered station. The tradeoff worth knowing is that air cooling is generally less aggressive than water cooling at the very top of the CW wattage range, which is part of why 2000W is Herolaser's air-cooled ceiling in this handheld line.

Herolaser 2000W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine air-cooled control panel and main unit

16.4 ft Heavy-Duty Cord for Working Room Without an Extension Cord

The unit ships with a 16.4 ft (5 m) heavy-duty cord connecting the handheld cleaning head to the main unit. That's enough reach to work around a full vehicle panel, a structural beam, or a large fabricated part without repositioning the base unit for every pass. Herolaser specifically advises against extension cords with this machine — running the laser head through an extension can introduce voltage drop and cable resistance that degrade beam consistency and put unnecessary load on the system, so the working radius is set by the stock cord length, not stretched further.

Non-Contact, Non-Abrasive Cleaning That Protects the Base Material

Because the laser beam never physically touches the surface, there's no grinding wheel, no blasting media, and no bristle brush wearing away good base metal along with the rust or coating. Abrasive methods remove a thin layer of the substrate itself every time they're used, which is why repeated grinding or sandblasting on the same part gradually thins it. Laser ablation is tuned to selectively vaporize contamination — rust, paint, oxide layers, oil film — while leaving properly cleaned base metal intact underneath, which matters most on parts where dimensional tolerance or long-term structural integrity can't afford repeated material loss, such as molds, precision tooling, or load-bearing steel.

No Media, Dust, or Chemical Waste Stream to Manage

Sandblasting generates spent media and airborne dust that need containment and disposal; chemical stripping generates solvent waste that requires proper handling and disposal under most shop safety programs. Laser cleaning ablates contamination into fine particulate and vapor that's captured by a fume extraction setup rather than accumulating as a physical waste stream on the shop floor. For shops cleaning frequently, that removes a recurring consumables cost (media, solvents) and a recurring disposal step — the laser itself is the only "consumable" being spent, in the form of very gradual optical component wear over the life of the machine.

Handheld, Portable Form Factor for In-Place Cleaning

The cleaning head is designed to be walked directly to the work — a vehicle frame on a lift, a fixed structural weldment, a large fabricated assembly — rather than requiring the part to be removed and brought to a fixed-bed machine. That portability is the core advantage handheld laser cleaners have over enclosed or gantry-style laser cleaning systems: for parts that are large, awkwardly shaped, or simply inconvenient to move, in-place cleaning eliminates the disassembly and re-fixturing step entirely.

Frequently Asked Questions about Herolaser 2000W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine

Q: What's the actual difference between the 2000W and 1500W Herolaser cleaners?
A: Primarily rated continuous-wave power output and price — 2000W vs. 1500W, at $9,500 vs. $6,799. Both share the same air-cooled platform and 16.4 ft cord. The 2000W gives you more sustained power for faster cleaning through heavier rust, thicker coatings, or larger jobs; the 1500W covers lighter-duty and occasional use at a lower price point.
Q: Is this a pulsed or continuous-wave (CW) laser cleaner?
A: Continuous wave (CW). It delivers a steady beam rather than short high-peak pulses, which favors faster material removal on heavier rust, paint, and coating jobs. Pulsed cleaners (a separate product line) favor lighter, more delicate work like mold cleaning. If you're not sure which type your job needs, CW is generally the better fit for higher-throughput industrial and fabrication cleaning.
Q: What materials and surfaces can it clean?
A: It's built for metal surfaces — removing rust, paint, oil film, and coatings from steel and other structural or fabricated metal. It is not a wood, plastic, or fabric cleaning tool.
Q: Do I need certification or special training to operate it?
A: No formal certification is required, but this is a Class 4 laser device by the nature of its power output, and proper laser safety training and PPE (laser safety eyewear rated for the unit's wavelength, protective clothing) are essential before operating it. Read Herolaser's safety documentation and follow standard laser safety protocols for your shop.
Q: Is it safe to use in a home garage or small shop?
A: It can be used in a home shop setting provided you follow proper laser safety practices — controlled access to the work area, correct-wavelength laser safety eyewear for anyone in the room, and adequate fume extraction for the ablated material. Because it's a Class 4 laser, treat the same safety precautions you would apply to any high-power industrial laser tool.
Q: What power/voltage or outlet does this machine need?
A: Confirm electrical requirements with The Maker's Chest before purchase or installation, especially if you're planning shop wiring around it.
Q: Is the warranty valid if I buy through The Maker's Chest instead of directly from Herolaser?
A: Yes. Herolaser's 1-year manufacturer warranty applies to units purchased through TMC the same as it would buying direct.
Q: What's TMC's return policy on this machine?
A: TMC's standard 75-day return window applies to this listing.
Q: Why buy through The Maker's Chest instead of directly from the manufacturer?
A: TMC handles logistics and setup questions in plain English with U.S.-based support, backs the purchase with a 75-day return window well beyond typical manufacturer-direct terms, and is available if you run into setup issues after the sale — rather than routing you through a manufacturer support queue.
Q: Will laser cleaning damage or thin the base metal underneath rust or coating?
A: Properly used, laser ablation is tuned to remove the contamination layer (rust, paint, oxide) while leaving the base metal intact, unlike grinding or sandblasting, which physically removes a thin layer of the substrate itself with every pass. This is part of why laser cleaning is preferred for parts where dimensional tolerance or long-term material integrity matters.
Q: How is this different from sandblasting or media blasting?
A: No blasting media, no dust cloud, and no consumables to buy and dispose of — the laser itself does the work, and ablated material is captured by fume extraction rather than becoming a physical waste stream. It also won't remove base material the way abrasive blasting does over repeated passes.

Once your order has dispatched from our warehouse, you'll receive shipping confirmation within 24 hours of your order leaving our warehouse.

General Delivery Timeframes
Delivery timeframes will vary dependent on your location and the items you've ordered.

In general, these are the delivery timeframes you can expect:

  • 1-7 Business Days - Delivery within the contiguous United States

The above is intended to be used as a guide, and may not apply in all cases. Some products may have specific 'Delivery Timeframe' information, which can be found on its own tab, or on the main 'Description' tab of the product.

Home Delivery (Bulky Items)

  • This service is generally for products over 40kg in weight, as it is a requirement for these products to be palletised for delivery.
  • This service utilises power tailgates with two-man crews or crane trucks when required and this is included in the quoted price.
  • The receiver will be contacted prior to delivery to arrange a suitable delivery date and time. Deliveries are scheduled for either an AM or PM slot on any given day.
  • Delivery is to front car port, driveway, doorstep or wherever practical depending upon site access. Drivers are not permitted to move item(s) within the residence or around the property due to OHS reasons.
  • This service assumes reasonable and safe access to the site is available. Overhanging trees, steep driveways, unsealed driveways, narrow driveways or streets or an unforeseen obstruction may deem the delivery unavailable.
  • If your delivery address is in a regional or remote location, we recommend shipping to the nearest depot as the most affordable option.

Other Terms & Conditions

If you happen to miss the delivery, you will be required to pick up your item(s) from the freight company's depot. Re-delivery can be arranged to your home, however this will incur extra costs.

We can't advise on the exact time and day the delivery will occur as this is not within our control, however you will be emailed the tracking details where you will be able to contact the freight company for more accurate timeframes.

It is your responsibility to advise us if:

  • someone will be available to sign for delivery.
  • there's somewhere safe the item can be left if no one will be home.
  • if the address is a business address, as we will require the business hours of the business and name of the building.
  • you notice any damage. If so, you should make note of it when signing for delivery or do not agree to accept the delivery. If you do accept delivery you are required to immediately take photos using your smart phone or camera of the damaged packaging or products inside the packaging. If your item(s) do arrived damaged please send photos to support@themakerschest.com, then visit our returns page and lodge your return claim online.
