Description

Herolaser 1500W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine: Industrial Rust and Coating Removal for $6,799

Strip rust, paint, oil, and coatings from steel and other metal surfaces with a 1500W continuous-wave fiber laser that runs air-cooled for 8+ hours without overheating — no media, chemicals, or blasting cabinet required.

Grinding, sandblasting, and chemical strippers all remove material from the base metal along with the rust or coating — and they leave dust, spent media, or hazardous runoff behind. The Herolaser 1500W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine instead uses focused laser energy to ablate rust, paint, oil, and oxide layers off a metal surface, leaving the substrate underneath intact. It plugs into standard shop power, runs handheld from a lightweight cleaning head, and needs no compressed air, abrasive media, or solvent disposal.

This is the entry tier of Herolaser's continuous-wave cleaning lineup: a 1500W unit built for shops doing light-to-medium rust, oil, and coating removal on smaller parts and production runs where the heavier 2000W tier's extra speed and higher price aren't needed.

Herolaser 1500W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine removing rust and coatings from metal with handheld laser cleaner

1500W Continuous-Wave Fiber Laser for Steady, Repeatable Cleaning Power

The machine is built around a 1500W continuous-wave (CW) fiber laser source, meaning the beam delivers a steady, uninterrupted stream of energy rather than short high-power pulses. That steady output is what makes continuous-wave cleaners well suited to bulk rust, mill scale, and thick coating removal on robust metal substrates: the sustained thermal energy breaks down and vaporizes contaminant layers efficiently across a surface. The tradeoff, inherent to any CW cleaning laser and not unique to this unit, is a heat-affected zone (HAZ) on the treated surface — a byproduct of the same thermal action that makes the cleaning fast. For thick steel, cast iron, structural parts, and other robust metal substrates where a light heat mark is a non-issue, that tradeoff is the right one to make for the speed gained.

Herolaser 1500W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine continuous-wave laser cleaning on steel and metal surfaces

Air-Cooled Design Runs 8+ Hours Without a Water Chiller

Rather than relying on a water-cooled chiller loop — standard on many higher-power industrial cleaning lasers and a maintenance point of its own (coolant changes, hose checks, freeze risk in cold shops) — this unit uses an industrial-grade air-cooling system that Herolaser states holds internal temperatures under 104°F (40°C) even after 8+ hours of continuous operation. For a shop running the machine through a full production shift, that means no chiller to plumb, drain, or top off, and one less system that can fail mid-job. The practical consequence is a simpler footprint: the machine plugs in, warms up, and runs.

16.4 ft (5m) Heavy-Duty Cord for Working Room Around Larger Parts

The cleaning head connects back to the machine on a 16.4 ft (5m) heavy-duty cord, giving the operator working radius to move around a part, a vehicle chassis, or a fixed structural piece without repositioning the whole unit. Herolaser specifically advises against extending this cord, which is typical for laser cleaning systems — the cable carries both the fiber optic beam path and the head's control/power lines, and splicing an extension risks beam attenuation or signal loss that a simple garden-hose-style extension cord wouldn't cause. Plan the machine's placement around that 16.4 ft working radius rather than around an extension cord.

Herolaser 1500W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine handheld cleaning head and air-cooled equipment detail

Dual Working Mode: Continuous and Modulated Output

Per Herolaser's published spec sheet, the machine supports both continuous and modulated working modes from the same laser source. Running in straight continuous mode delivers the steady, maximum-throughput output described above for stripping thicker layers; switching to modulated mode pulses that same CW source on and off at a controllable rate, giving the operator a way to dial back aggressiveness on a lighter contaminant or a pass where full continuous heat input isn't needed. This is a control-panel setting on the machine itself, not a hardware swap — the operator adjusts it for the surface in front of them without changing equipment.

Fiber-Optic Beam Delivery at a Standard 1080nm Wavelength

The laser operates at a central wavelength of approximately 1080nm (±10nm) per Herolaser's spec sheet — the standard output wavelength for fiber lasers used across the industrial cleaning and welding equipment category, chosen because metals absorb energy at that wavelength efficiently while the beam still travels cleanly through fiber-optic cable to a lightweight handheld head. That's what makes a fiber cleaning laser handheld and cable-fed in the first place, unlike CO2 laser systems, which need mirrors and a rigid beam path and are essentially never built as handheld tools.

Rust, Paint, Oil, and Coating Removal on Metal Surfaces

Herolaser positions this unit specifically for rust, paint, oil, and coating removal from metal surfaces — the core use case for a mid-power CW cleaning laser in a metal fabrication shop, auto restoration bay, mold shop, or industrial maintenance operation. Compared to sandblasting, laser cleaning at this power level leaves no spent media to sweep up and no risk of embedding abrasive grit into a surface that later needs welding or coating; compared to chemical paint stripping, there's no solvent to neutralize or dispose of. For a shop already budgeting for grinding wheels, blast media, or stripper by the drum, the laser's running cost after the equipment purchase is essentially just electricity.

Frequently Asked Questions about Herolaser 1500W Continuous Laser Cleaning Machine

Q: What's the difference between the 1500W and 2000W Herolaser continuous cleaners?
A: Laser output power and price — 1500W at $6,799 vs. 2000W at $9,500. Both share the same air-cooled design and cord length. The 2000W tier cleans faster on heavier rust and larger surfaces; the 1500W tier is sized for light-to-medium rust, oil, and coating removal.
Q: What materials can this machine clean?
A: Metal surfaces only — Herolaser markets this unit specifically for rust, paint, oil, and coating removal on metal. It is not intended for wood, plastic, or other non-metal substrates.
Q: Do I need training or certification to operate this?
A: No formal certification is required, but laser cleaning equipment at this power level is a Class 4 laser product and requires proper laser safety eyewear, ventilation for fumes generated during cleaning, and basic operator training on safe handheld laser use before first use.
Q: Is this safe to run in a home shop?
A: It can be, with the same precautions as any Class 4 industrial laser: rated safety glasses for the beam's wavelength, a well-ventilated space (or fume extraction) since cleaning vaporizes rust/paint/coating material, and keeping bystanders and reflective surfaces clear of the beam path. It draws significant power on startup and during operation — confirm your shop's electrical service can support it with Herolaser or TMC before installation.
Q: What power/outlet does this machine need?
A: Confirm electrical requirements with Herolaser or TMC before purchase if your shop's power service is a constraint.
Q: Is the warranty valid when I buy through The Maker's Chest?
A: Yes. TMC sells genuine Herolaser units, and the manufacturer's 12-month warranty applies as stated on Herolaser's product listing.
Q: What's TMC's return policy on this machine?
A: TMC's standard 75-day return window applies to this listing.
Q: Why buy this through The Maker's Chest instead of direct from the manufacturer?
A: TMC ships from U.S. inventory and provides pre-sale and setup support, backed by TMC's standard 75-day return window.
Q: What's the difference between a pulsed and a continuous-wave (CW) laser cleaner, and which does TMC sell as this product?
A: This Herolaser 1500W unit is a continuous-wave (CW) cleaner — it emits a steady beam and is built for faster removal of heavier rust, thick coatings, and mill scale on robust metal substrates, generally at the cost of a visible heat-affected zone on the treated surface. Pulsed laser cleaners emit short, high-intensity bursts instead of a steady beam, which limits heat buildup and makes them better suited to light rust and precision cleaning on heat-sensitive materials without discoloring or warping the substrate. If your work is mostly heavy rust or coating removal on thick steel, a CW machine like this one is the faster tool; if you're doing precision or delicate cleaning where substrate heat damage is a concern, look at a pulsed cleaner instead.
Q: Does this machine include a water chiller?
A: No. This unit is air-cooled, not water-cooled — Herolaser states it holds under 104°F (40°C) internal temperature after 8+ hours of continuous operation without a chiller loop.

Order Confirmation & Dispatch
As soon as you place an order with us you'll receive an order confirmation email, and we'll get working to have your order dispatched as soon as we can.

Typically, we'll dispatch your order within 1 business day, however this can vary depending on the product and our warehouses, so please allow up to 3 business days.

Once your order has dispatched from our warehouse, you'll receive shipping confirmation within 24 hours of your order leaving our warehouse.

General Delivery Timeframes
Delivery timeframes will vary dependent on your location and the items you've ordered.

In general, these are the delivery timeframes you can expect:

  • 1-7 Business Days - Delivery within the contiguous United States

The above is intended to be used as a guide, and may not apply in all cases. Some products may have specific 'Delivery Timeframe' information, which can be found on its own tab, or on the main 'Description' tab of the product.

Home Delivery (Bulky Items)

  • This service is generally for products over 40kg in weight, as it is a requirement for these products to be palletised for delivery.
  • This service utilises power tailgates with two-man crews or crane trucks when required and this is included in the quoted price.
  • The receiver will be contacted prior to delivery to arrange a suitable delivery date and time. Deliveries are scheduled for either an AM or PM slot on any given day.
  • Delivery is to front car port, driveway, doorstep or wherever practical depending upon site access. Drivers are not permitted to move item(s) within the residence or around the property due to OHS reasons.
  • This service assumes reasonable and safe access to the site is available. Overhanging trees, steep driveways, unsealed driveways, narrow driveways or streets or an unforeseen obstruction may deem the delivery unavailable.
  • If your delivery address is in a regional or remote location, we recommend shipping to the nearest depot as the most affordable option.

Other Terms & Conditions

If you happen to miss the delivery, you will be required to pick up your item(s) from the freight company's depot. Re-delivery can be arranged to your home, however this will incur extra costs.

We can't advise on the exact time and day the delivery will occur as this is not within our control, however you will be emailed the tracking details where you will be able to contact the freight company for more accurate timeframes.

It is your responsibility to advise us if:

  • someone will be available to sign for delivery.
  • there's somewhere safe the item can be left if no one will be home.
  • if the address is a business address, as we will require the business hours of the business and name of the building.
  • you notice any damage. If so, you should make note of it when signing for delivery or do not agree to accept the delivery. If you do accept delivery you are required to immediately take photos using your smart phone or camera of the damaged packaging or products inside the packaging. If your item(s) do arrived damaged please send photos to support@themakerschest.com, then visit our returns page and lodge your return claim online.
