The 55W CO2 laser covers wood, acrylic, leather, fabric, paper and rubber. Metal marking and glass engraving come from the optional UV, MOPA and Fiber laser sources.

Most laser shops hit the same wall. A CO2 machine cuts thick wood and acrylic but engraves slowly, a galvo engraves fast but its bed is tiny, and the moment a customer asks for a glass award or a stainless nameplate you are shopping for a second or third machine. Each one brings its own software, its own calibration routine and its own footprint on your bench.

The xTool X1 is built to remove that wall. It starts as a 55W CO2 cutter, adds a 20W Diode Galvo Module for high-speed engraving across a 24.2" × 12.6" (615 × 320 mm) bed, and then accepts a 5W UV, 60W MOPA or 30W Fiber source through the same optical path. You buy the configuration your orders need today and add the next laser when the work arrives.

Cut the Part, Then Engrave the Detail, Without Moving the Material

Cutting and engraving the same project in one workflow — xTool X1

The 55W CO2 laser cuts up to 18 mm (0.71") basswood and 20 mm (0.79") acrylic, and its 10,600 nm beam is absorbed by clear acrylic where a blue diode simply passes through. The 20W Diode Galvo Module then handles the fine work with a spot as small as 0.16 × 0.14 mm, scanning at up to 6,000 mm/s. On two separate machines, a sign with cut-out lettering and a detailed photo engraving means moving the blank, re-registering it and hoping the two jobs line up. On the X1 the cut and the engraving share one bed, one camera view and one project file, so the registration problem never appears.

Finish Production Batches in a Fraction of the Time, With No Bed-Size Penalty

Hybrid Motion engraving speed up to 6,000 mm/s — xTool X1

A galvo scanner is fast because it steers the beam with mirrors instead of dragging a head across the bed, but a standard galvo can only reach a small field. The X1's Hybrid Motion™ four-axis system solves that by letting a large-format gantry carry the galvo from tile to tile while the mirrors scan each section at up to 6,000 mm/s. xTool's control algorithm synchronizes the two systems, which move at speeds up to 100× apart, and reduces sharp turns in the path by 61%. In xTool's own one-hour batch test the X1 produced 380% more output than a conventional comparison, which in a real shop means more keychains, coasters or tumblers off the bed before the end of the shift.

Engrave Oversized Designs Without a Visible Seam

Hybrid Motion large work area — xTool X1

Because the galvo covers the bed in sections, the joins between sections are where most large galvo engravings fail. The X1's Smart Seam Blending overlaps neighboring sections and gradually feathers their edges, spreading any tiny difference over a wide band so the join disappears. That is what makes the full 24.2" × 12.6" work area, up to 4× the area of a typical galvo laser, genuinely usable. With the UV source the same logic extends to glass inner engraving up to 23.6" × 11.8" (at a refractive index of 1.54), and with the MOPA or Fiber sources and the dust hood to metal embossing up to 16.3" × 8.9", so crystal awards and large metal plaques become single jobs instead of stitched ones.

Start With CO2 and Add Glass, Color Metal or Deep Engraving When the Orders Justify It

Multi-laser platform with CO2, Diode, UV, MOPA and Fiber sources — xTool X1

Different materials respond to different wavelengths, which is why shops usually end up owning several lasers. Laser Swap™ routes five sources through one shared flying optical path and a single custom field lens that focuses 1064 nm, 450 nm and 355 nm. The 5W UV is the only X1 source for glass and crystal inner engraving, the 60W MOPA adds color engraving, deep engraving, embossing and metal cutting, and the 30W Fiber covers everyday metal marking and deep 3D engraving. Every expansion runs through the 20W Diode Galvo Module, and one external source connects at a time, so you swap sources instead of buying a new machine and a new bench.

Keep Every Laser Lined Up, Edge to Edge, So Multi-Laser Jobs Match

Each laser source has its own small alignment errors, and a moving gantry plus uneven material add more. The X1 answers with full-area multi-laser calibration: built-in self-calibration, camera vision correction, point-by-point alignment of each laser to one shared coordinate system, and surface mapping of the material. xTool specifies an alignment accuracy of up to 0.2 mm across the calibrated area. The practical result is that you can cut with CO2, engrave with the galvo and finish with a UV or fiber pass on the same piece without ghosting, and a warped board is compensated for automatically instead of ruining the engraving depth.

Put the Material Down and Press Start, With Focus and Placement Handled for You

ACS Automated Creation System workflow — xTool X1

The X1's ACS™ (Automated Creation System) combines a triple-camera system (8 MP overview, 12 MP close-up and a ranging camera) with an AutoLift Base and a dot-laser ranging module that measures surface height while it moves. A full-area height scan that takes roughly 20 minutes with stop-and-measure methods takes about 34 seconds, with 99.4% of points within ±0.5 mm. On a manual machine you measure the stock, set focus with a gauge and align the design by eye. Here the cameras find the material, the base raises it to focus, and EasySet™ recommends settings from xTool's library of 1,700 materials and 110,000+ parameters, which is what lets a beginner start safely and a professional run variable batch fills quickly.

Grow Into Long Signage, Rotary Work and Clean Air With Accessories Built for the X1

X1 accessory ecosystem including conveyor feeder, rotary and work stand — xTool X1

The Intelligent Conveyor Feeder lets the X1 process material far longer than its bed; xTool rates it for stock up to 118" long with two Conveyor Rails, and its AutoPassthrough stitches camera images and detects feeding. The MagSwap™ RA3 Rotary switches between roller, chuck, sphere and ring modes with a 3D preview, for engraving up to 110 mm (4.3") in diameter. The Mobile Work Stand makes the 60 kg (132 lb) machine movable by one person, and the SafetyPro™ AP2 purifier's 7-stage filtration cuts fumes and odor. The Versatile Bundle packages the stand, feeder and rotary, and the All-in-One Bundle adds the AP2.

Run Long Jobs With Confidence on a Frame Built to Stay Accurate

Class 1 laser safety and multi-layer protection — xTool X1

Speed only matters if the machine stays accurate, so the X1 is built on a UniCast Frame of three die-cast aluminum sections (4,000-ton die casting) with key optical parts aligned to within 0.15°, plus vibration-suppression algorithms that keep lines sharp at high speed. 12 built-in sensors monitor flame, temperature, water cooling, enclosure access and optics, and the machine is rated Class 1 laser safety in its standard configuration. Two caveats matter: with the 5W UV source installed, Class 3B radiation is accessible during optical alignment, and with the Intelligent Conveyor Feeder the X1 operates as a Class 4 device, both intended for trained users. The optional Fire Safety Set 2 adds automatic suppression in under one second.

Frequently Asked Questions about the xTool X1

Q: What is the difference between the X1 Single CO2 and the X1 CO2 + Diode Galvo, and can I upgrade later?
A: The difference is the 20W Diode Galvo Module. Single CO2 gives you the 55W CO2 laser for cutting and everyday engraving at up to 600 mm/s. CO2 + Diode Galvo adds the module, which engraves at up to 6,000 mm/s with a much finer spot and is required before you can add UV, MOPA or Fiber sources. You can start with Single CO2 and add the Diode Galvo Module later, so contact us for current pricing when you are ready.

Q: Which laser source should I choose: UV, MOPA or Fiber?
A: Choose by material. The 5W UV is the only X1 source that supports glass and crystal inner engraving and gives ultra-fine detail on almost any material. The 30W Fiber is best for everyday metal marking such as names, logos and serial numbers, plus deep 3D engraving. The 60W MOPA is faster and more versatile on metal, adding color engraving, embossing and cutting. The X1 runs one external source at a time, and sources can be swapped through Laser Swap™.

Q: What materials can the X1 cut and engrave?
A: The 55W CO2 laser cuts wood, acrylic, fabric, leather and paper, and engraves a wide range of non-metals. With the right add-on source, the X1 also engraves metal, glass, ceramic, rubber, silicone and plastic. Bare metal needs the MOPA or Fiber source, and glass inner engraving needs the UV source, because the CO2 beam only marks coated metals.

Q: How large is the work area and how thick can it cut?
A: Surface engraving covers 24.2" × 12.6" (615 × 320 mm). Glass inner engraving reaches 23.6" × 11.8" at a refractive index of 1.54, and metal embossing 16.3" × 8.9" with the dust hood. The CO2 laser cuts up to 18 mm basswood and 20 mm acrylic. For stock longer than the bed, the Intelligent Conveyor Feeder processes material up to 118" long when used with two Conveyor Rails.

Q: Is the X1 safe to run in a home workshop or a classroom?
A: In its standard configuration it is rated Class 1, with 12 built-in sensors monitoring flame, temperature, cooling, enclosure access and optics. Two setups change that: with the 5W UV source installed, Class 3B radiation is accessible during optical alignment, and with the Intelligent Conveyor Feeder the X1 operates as a Class 4 device. Both are intended for trained professionals, so check with your school or insurer before using either in a shared space. The optional Fire Safety Set 2 adds automatic fire suppression.

Q: What is in the Versatile and All-in-One bundles, and which should I buy?
A: The Versatile Bundle adds the Mobile Work Stand, the Intelligent Conveyor Feeder and the MagSwap RA3 Rotary to your chosen laser configuration. The All-in-One Bundle adds the SafetyPro AP2 air purifier on top. Choose Versatile if you want long signage, tumblers and a movable base from day one. Choose All-in-One if you cannot vent fumes outside, since the purifier filters smoke and odor in seven stages.

Q: What software does the X1 use, and which devices does it support?
A: The X1 runs on xTool Studio, xTool's own software, on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and iPadOS. It connects by USB or Wi-Fi and accepts SVG, DXF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP and TIF files. It also works with xTool's Atomm creation suite for generators and ready-made projects. If a specific third-party software is a hard requirement for your workflow, ask us before ordering.

Q: How big and heavy is it, and what power does it need?
A: The machine measures 39.4" × 22.8" × 16.5" and weighs 132 lb (60 kg), and the shipping parcel is 44.1" × 28.3" × 21.5" at 146 lb (66 kg). Plan for two people to lift it and a sturdy bench, or choose a bundle with the Mobile Work Stand. It accepts 100–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz, with a maximum input of 550 W for the CO2 module, so a standard household circuit is sufficient.

Q: Is the warranty valid when I buy through The Maker's Chest?
A: Yes. We are an authorized xTool dealer, so xTool's standard 1-year manufacturer warranty is identical to buying direct, excluding consumables and shipping. You also get our US-based support alongside xTool's.

Q: What is your return policy?
A: You have 75 days from the ship date to return the X1 in like-new condition for a full refund, less shipping and handling.

Q: Why buy the X1 from The Maker's Chest instead of direct from xTool?
A: Same machine and same manufacturer warranty, but from a dealer that sells the whole laser category. We will tell you honestly whether the X1, a dedicated fiber laser or a smaller CO2 machine suits what you make, we plan extraction and accessories with you, and we handle purchase orders and tax-exempt paperwork for schools and businesses as standard.
