Most metal shops need a MIG or TIG welder, a separate plasma or laser cutter, and a grinder for cleanup, plus the floor space to house all of it. The xTool MetalFab laser welder and CNC cutter replaces that stack with one compact, camera-guided system. Whether you run a small fabrication business, build custom automotive parts or prototype new products, it delivers professional-grade welds and cuts at a fraction of the cost of industrial equipment.
Pricing starts at $4,499 for the 800W welder, and you can add the CNC cutter and a SafetyPro air purifier when your shop is ready. Every unit is sold by an authorized reseller with 75-day returns and US-based support from The Maker's Chest.
The fiber laser head detaches from the CNC cutting bed in seconds and becomes a handheld welding and cleaning gun. One machine gives you four capabilities:
CNC Laser Cutting: up to 10mm carbon steel burr-free (1200W) with ±0.1mm precision at speeds up to 400mm/s
Laser Welding: clean, deep welds from 0.2mm sheet up to 5mm stainless and carbon steel (1200W)
Rust and Paint Removal: up to 45mm cleaning width with the MaxClean accessory, about 3x wider than typical handheld laser cleaners
Laser Engraving: detailed surface marking on stainless steel, carbon steel and anodized aluminum
When you finish cutting, the same head becomes your welder. When you finish welding, it cleans the seam. One workflow, raw stock to finished part.

The MetalFab uses industrial-grade Coherent fiber laser chips, the class of component found in much more expensive machines. The result is consistent, deep-penetration welds with a minimal heat-affected zone, so thin sheet and aluminum stay flat instead of warping.
Maximum single-side weld depth (1200W): stainless steel 5mm, carbon steel 5mm, galvanized sheet 5mm, titanium 5mm, aluminum 4mm, brass 4mm, and ultra-thin metal from 0.2mm. The 800W reaches 4mm on stainless, carbon and galvanized steel and 3mm on aluminum and brass.
Laser lifespan is rated at 10,000+ hours, with thermal management built for continuous 24/7 operation.

Forget unstable arcs and the steep learning curve of TIG. The 8-inch smart touchscreen ships with 108+ one-click material presets. Pick your material and thickness and the machine sets the rest.
Automatic wire feeding keeps a steady feed rate while you guide the torch
Ultra-lightweight welding torch (about 550g) with integrated wire-feed control and grip sensing
Quick-release head swap between welding, cutting and cleaning tips
Dual smart cameras handle material recognition and cutting layout automatically

VibeFreeCut™ suppresses vibration for smooth, burr-free edges with no secondary grinding.
FlexiTrack™ keeps the laser aligned even on warped or uneven stock.
SaveGas™ cuts shielding-gas use by up to 50% versus conventional setups, with burr-free 4mm stainless cuts at just 87 PSI.
The dual camera system (16MP panoramic plus close-range) drives AI nesting for up to 98.7% material utilization, so you get more parts per sheet and less scrap.
The optional MaxClean accessory covers up to 45mm per pass, so rust removal, paint stripping and oxide cleaning go much faster. After welding, switch to post-weld cleaning mode (up to 10mm width) for bright, clean seams without grinding or wire brushing, all on the same laser head.
The MetalFab laser welder stands on its own as a handheld system. When volume grows, the MetalFab CNC Cutter (610 x 610mm bed, unlimited pass-through length) connects to the same fiber laser head and adds:
Automated precision cutting at ±0.1mm accuracy and up to 400mm/s
Up to 10mm carbon steel burr-free with the 1200W welder (8mm with the 800W)
Camera-based smart nesting for maximum material yield
Pass-through loading for workpieces longer than the bed
Note that the cutter requires a MetalFab welder to operate, since it shares the welder's laser head. If you already own a welder, choose the Cutter (Welder Needed) option.

10,000+ hour laser life with industrial thermal management for continuous operation
Operates from -10°C to 40°C, so cold garages and hot shops are fine
10 layered safety features including contact-activated emission prevention to stop accidental firing
SafetyPro AP2 Max air purifier available as part of the SafetyPro Bundle to capture weld and cut fumes at the source
The MetalFab competes with industrial machines that cost 3 to 5 times as much, and wins on versatility, ease of use and total cost of ownership.

Refer to the bundle image on each option for the exact accessories shipped with that package.
You can buy the MetalFab from several sellers, including xTool directly. Here is why buyers choose The Maker's Chest:
75-day returns. Test the MetalFab on your own material and production, with real time to decide.
Two lines of support. Our US-based team and xTool's own support network are both behind your machine.
Real experts, not a script. Ask about cut parameters, gas pressure or a specific alloy and talk to someone who knows these machines.
Honest pre-sale guidance. We will tell you if 800W is enough or if you need the 1200W, and whether your shop's power and ventilation are ready.
Authorized reseller. Your machine carries xTool's 1-year manufacturer warranty, and we help you through any claim.

It works with stainless steel, aluminum alloys, carbon steel, titanium, brass, galvanized sheet and other common fabrication metals. Exact thickness limits depend on whether you choose the 800W or 1200W. On the 1200W, single-side weld depth reaches 5mm on stainless, carbon steel, galvanized sheet and titanium, and 4mm on aluminum and brass. The 800W reaches 4mm on stainless, carbon and galvanized steel, and 3mm on aluminum and brass. Both weld thin sheet from 0.2mm. See the comparison table above for cutting limits.
No. The 108+ one-click presets, 8-inch touchscreen and automatic wire feeder mean most beginners produce clean, strong welds within their first sessions. You pick the material and thickness and the machine sets the parameters, and the torch weighs about 550g, so it is easy to hold steady. Joint fit-up and clean material still matter, as with any welding, and we are happy to talk through your first parts with you.
The 1200W needs a 200 to 240V circuit rated 21A or higher (max 4200W draw). The 800W needs 200 to 240V at 15A or higher (max 3000W). Standard 120V outlets are not sufficient, so have a licensed electrician confirm a dedicated 220V circuit before it arrives. The CNC cutter has its own 250W supply (100 to 240V, max 2.5A), which is a much lighter load. Tell us your shop's electrical setup and we will say whether it is ready.
The 1200W welds up to 5mm stainless and carbon steel, cuts up to 10mm carbon steel burr-free and can cut up to 12mm with burrs. The 800W handles up to 4mm welds and 8mm carbon steel burr-free. The 1200W is also a little heavier (38.2 kg against 35 kg) and draws more current. For most small shops working with sheet and light fabrication, the 800W is plenty. Choose the 1200W if you routinely weld 5mm material, cut thicker steel or run heavier production.
Only in the Welder + Cutter and SafetyPro Bundle options. The cutter shares the welder's laser head, so it cannot run without a MetalFab welder. The cutter bed is 610 x 610mm with unlimited pass-through length, so longer pieces can feed through. If you already own the welder and want to add cutting later, choose the Cutter (Welder Needed) option.
Use 99.99% nitrogen or argon. The SaveGas™ system reduces consumption by up to 50% versus conventional setups, and burr-free 4mm stainless cuts run at just 87 PSI. Actual running cost depends on your gas supplier, cylinder size and how much you cut and weld, so ask a local gas supplier for pricing on your volume.
Yes. Laser welding and cutting produce metal fumes and particulates. Duct fumes outdoors or use a certified fume extraction system. The SafetyPro Bundle includes the SafetyPro AP2 Max air purifier for this purpose, which captures weld and cut fumes at the source. Do not run the machine in a closed room without extraction.
No. The MetalFab is designed for metals. It is not recommended for highly reflective metals such as copper or silver in engraving mode, and it is not meant for wood or acrylic. For wood, acrylic, leather and similar materials, a CO2 or diode laser is the right tool, and we can recommend one.
It is a Class 4 laser with 10 layered safety features, including contact-activated emission prevention, which stops the laser firing unless the torch is in contact with the workpiece. Laser safety eyewear rated for 1080nm is required during operation for the operator and anyone nearby, and you should follow xTool's ventilation and operating guidance. If the machine will be used in a shared or commercial space, talk to us about the safety procedures you should document.
The welder measures 632 x 304 x 472 mm and weighs 35 kg (800W), or 728 x 327 x 512 mm and 38.2 kg (1200W). The CNC cutter is much larger at 1175 x 1157 x 1230 mm and 158 kg, so plan the floor space and the delivery before it arrives. The welder runs from -10°C to 40°C, so an unheated garage or a hot shop are both fine.
We offer 75-day returns on xTool products. Return the machine in like-new condition within 75 days of the ship date for a full refund, less shipping and handling. That gives you time to test it on your own materials and production before you commit. Contact our support team to start a return.
Dual-line support: our US-based team plus xTool's own support network, covering setup, parameter tuning, material questions and troubleshooting. Ask us about a specific alloy, thickness or joint and you will talk to someone who knows these machines, not a script.
xTool provides a 1-year manufacturer warranty on the laser welder and CNC cutter, and buying from The Maker's Chest as an authorized reseller keeps it identical to buying direct. Consumables and shipping are excluded. We help you through any claim. See the Warranty tab for details.

xTool provides a 1-year manufacturer warranty on the laser welder and CNC cutter, and buying from The Maker's Chest as an authorized reseller keeps it identical to buying direct. Consumables and shipping are excluded. We help you through any claim. See the Warranty tab for details.
