Pre-order: the PRONAX Forge is estimated to ship in December 2026 from Genmitsu's next production batch. Orders placed now reserve a machine from that batch.
On most hobby-class CNC routers, every bit change is a stop. The spindle winds down, you loosen the collet with two wrenches, swap the cutter, re-probe Z and restart the program. On a sign that needs a roughing end mill, a finishing ball nose and a V-bit, that is three manual interruptions per part, and on a batch of twenty it is the reason the job takes a whole day instead of an afternoon.
The Genmitsu PRONAX Forge removes that bottleneck. Its spindle, VFD, offline controller and optional NAX5 tool changer were designed and validated as one system, so tool changes, tool-length compensation and dust shoe handling run inside the G-code. The square bed suits cabinet doors, wide signs and nested part batches, and the machine stays small enough for a garage or studio shop. It is the step for a shop that has outgrown a desktop CNC but is not ready for the cost or floor space of a full industrial router.

The NAX5 automatic tool changer holds five ER20-A tool holders in a rack beside the cutting zone. When your CAM program calls a new tool, the spindle parks the current bit, lifts clear of the neighboring slots, collects the next one and measures it against a fixed probe with 0.013 mm repeatability, so the Z offset is right before the first cut. NAX5 also identifies each slot and shows its status with indicator lights, something most rack-style changers at this price leave out. Because it talks to the PRONAX controller over RS-485 with PRONAX-specific firmware, there is no third-party VFD or controller to source and debug. The practical result: load five cutters in the morning and the machine runs a full multi-tool job while you prepare the next one.

The Forge cuts across a square 800 × 800 mm bed with 118 mm of Z travel and 149 mm of material clearance under the gantry. A square footprint matters when the work is wide rather than long: cabinet doors, 30-inch signs, tabletop inlays, drawer fronts and sheets of small parts nested edge to edge. Compared with its sibling, the PRONAX Spark at 600 × 900 mm, the Forge gives up 100 mm of length for 200 mm of extra width, roughly 18% more cutting area overall. That extra area turns into more parts per sheet and fewer re-clamps per job.
The included 2.2 kW air-cooled spindle is driven by a VFD in the control box and accepts standard ER20 collets, with 1/8", 1/4" and 4 mm collets in the box. It runs 0–18,000 RPM on 110 V and 0–24,000 RPM on 220 V. For comparison, the trim-router spindles common on entry-level machines sit well under 1 kW and lose speed under load, which forces shallow passes in hardwood and makes aluminum a gamble. Air cooling means there is no pump, coolant reservoir or radiator to plumb and maintain, so the spindle is ready to cut as soon as the machine powers up. In practice that means deeper passes in oak and walnut, cleaner edges in acrylic, and realistic aluminum and brass work with the right feeds and speeds.
Repeatability over a long batch comes from the motion system, and the Forge is built with production parts on every axis. 1605 ball screws drive X and Y and a 1204 ball screw drives Z, riding on an HG20 linear guide on X, a hardened 20 mm linear shaft on Y and an HG15 linear guide on Z. Each axis is moved by a closed-loop NEMA 24 stepper rated at 3.5 N·m, which checks its own position and corrects it, so a heavy cut cannot silently cost you steps the way it can on open-loop machines. All of it sits on an all-aluminum frame. The payoff shows up at the end of the day, when the last sign in the batch still lines up with the first.
Rapid travel reaches 6,221 mm/min on X and Y and 4,972 mm/min on Z, so the time between features, tool changes and passes stays short on large, detailed files. The controller runs GRBL 1.1f and works with Candle, Easel, UGS and other GRBL-compatible senders, while CAM can come from Fusion, Carveco, Vectric VCarve or whatever you already use. Offline control lets you run a job straight from the controller without a laptop tethered to the machine, which frees your computer for design work and removes a common cause of dropped connections mid-job.

The PRONAX Hybrid Table, included in the ATC configuration, is a bolt-on platform kit sized specifically for the Forge. It uses four custom spoilboard panels held by three pairs of upper and lower clamping bars, plus leveling feet and a drag-chain mounting bracket. Instead of surfacing one large sheet and replacing it all when it wears, you replace the panel you have cut into and keep working. Clamping bars give repeatable fixturing positions for batch work, and the raised platform gives the NAX5 rack and dust shoe a stable reference. Bought separately, the hybrid table alone is a $399 accessory, so the bundle is where most of the saving sits.
The Forge is designed to grow with the shop. Genmitsu lists support for an MPG pendant, a 4th axis, a dust shoe and a vacuum fixture, and a PRONAX-specific 4th axis with a harmonic drive is in development. With NAX5 installed, the machine can mount and remove the dust shoe automatically around tool changes, and Genmitsu publishes 3D-printable dust shoe and cleaning module files on its resource page. XYZ limit switches and an emergency stop come standard, which matters when the machine is running a long program while you work nearby.

Choose the Forge if your work is wide, such as cabinet doors, square signs or nested sheets of small parts, and you want the most cutting area in the PRONAX line.
Choose the Spark if your work is long and narrow, such as guitar necks, plaques and long signs, or you want the lowest entry price and a slightly narrower footprint.
Q: What's the difference between the PRONAX Forge and the PRONAX Spark?
A: Both share the same 2.2 kW spindle, closed-loop NEMA 24 motors, ball screw motion system, controller and NAX5 tool changer compatibility. The difference is the bed: the Forge cuts 800 × 800 mm while the Spark cuts 600 × 900 mm. The Forge has about 18% more cutting area and suits wide work; the Spark suits long, narrow work and costs $200 less.
Q: When will the PRONAX Forge ship?
A: The PRONAX Forge is a pre-order, and both configurations are estimated to ship in December 2026 from Genmitsu's next production batch. Call or email us any time for an update on your order.
Q: Is the automatic tool changer included?
A: Only in the Machine + NAX5 ATC System + Hybrid Table configuration. The Machine Only configuration ships with the 2.2 kW spindle and a manual ER20 collet, and it is NAX5-compatible, so the tool changer can be added later. Call us if you are unsure which configuration fits your work.
Q: Can I use the NAX5 tool changer on another Genmitsu or third-party CNC?
A: No. The NAX5 is designed only for the PRONAX Spark and Forge. It communicates with the PRONAX controller over RS-485 and relies on PRONAX-specific firmware for tool-change sequencing, length compensation and slot identification.
Q: What tools does the NAX5 accept?
A: The NAX5 uses ER20-A tool holders and accepts cutters up to 14 mm in diameter, with a recommended total tool length of 75 mm or less. The length limit exists because the spindle lifts over neighboring slots when it moves between tools.
Q: What materials can the PRONAX Forge cut?
A: It cuts hardwood, plywood, MDF, acrylic, plastics and foam, and handles aluminum and brass with appropriate bits, feeds and speeds. The 2.2 kW spindle and closed-loop motors give it headroom that trim-router machines lack in hard materials.
Q: What software does it work with?
A: The controller runs GRBL 1.1f, so it works with Candle, Easel, UGS and other GRBL-compatible senders, and it can run jobs offline from the controller. For CAM, Fusion, Carveco and Vectric VCarve all generate compatible G-code.
Q: What power does it need?
A: The PRONAX Forge runs on AC 110–230 V. On a standard US 110 V outlet the spindle reaches 18,000 RPM; on 220 V it reaches 24,000 RPM.
Q: How much assembly is required?
A: The machine arrives as three semi-assembled modules: the XZ-axis module and the left and right Y-axis modules. You join the modules, mount the spindle and connect the control box using the included tools and user manual.
Q: Is the warranty valid when I buy through The Maker's Chest?
A: Yes. The PRONAX Forge carries Genmitsu's 1-year machine warranty, excluding consumables and shipping, and our US-based team handles warranty claims with Genmitsu on your behalf.
Q: What is the return policy?
A: US orders are covered by our 75-Day Returns policy. Contact support@themakerschest.com with your order number to start a return; the full conditions are on our Returns & Refund Policy page.
Q: Why buy from The Maker's Chest instead of directly from SainSmart?
A: You get the same machine with a 75-day return window, a US-based team you can call before and after purchase, and guidance from people who sell competing CNC brands and can tell you honestly whether the Forge, the Spark or another machine fits your work.
