The Dual Laser Engraver That Handles Metal and Non-Metal — With Autofocus and Two Field Lenses Included.

The OMTech Solis Duo 30W Fiber & 20W Diode is the mid-range configuration in the Solis Duo family — combining a 30W 1064nm fiber laser for metal marking with a 20W 455nm diode laser for wood, leather, and acrylic, one-touch autofocus, and both a 9.8" × 9.8" and 5.9" × 5.9" field lens included in the box

For growing personalization businesses and compact production shops that need serious dual-material capability without two separate machines, the 30W Solis Duo is where the platform gets meaningfully more capable.

OMTech Solis Duo 30W Fiber & 20W Diode Dual Laser Engraver with Autofocus Specifications

What You Get Over the 20W — and Why It Matters

The Solis Duo lineup spans three configurations. The key decision is whether the 20W entry level, the 30W mid-range, or the 50W top tier is right for your current volume and material needs. Here's precisely what the 30W adds over the 20W:

One-touch autofocus — the 20W uses touchscreen-assisted manual focus. The 30W includes autofocus that automatically detects and focuses the field lens when switching setups. For operators who switch between materials of different heights throughout a production day, this is the feature that eliminates repeated manual calibration cycles.

Two field lenses included — the 30W ships with both the 9.8" × 9.8" field lens and the 5.9" × 5.9" field lens. The 20W includes only the 9.8" lens. The smaller 5.9" lens produces a tighter, more concentrated beam for fine detail work on small metal pieces — hallmarks, small logos, fine jewelry text — where the larger lens would produce a larger spot than optimal.

More fiber power — 30W versus 20W delivers approximately 50% more fiber laser output. Faster throughput on detail-heavy metal graphics, deeper marking per pass on harder alloys, and more comfortable operating headroom during extended production sessions.

The 30W and 50W Solis Duo configurations also include autofocus, making engraving jobs easier. In addition, users won't have to refocus the laser when switching from fiber to diode or vice versa, as both lasers have the same focal length.

Dual Laser: The Core Advantage That Both Sources Deliver

The fundamental value proposition of the Solis Duo is what it eliminates: the choice between a fiber laser for metal and a diode or CO₂ laser for wood, leather, and non-metals. Most engraving businesses face this choice when purchasing their first or second laser — and it's a choice that costs either market reach (if you pick only one) or investment, footprint, and workflow complexity (if you pick both).

The Solis Duo enables users to engrave on various materials — from stainless steel to wood and acrylic — without switching machines or setups. It's a cost-effective way to diversify your product offering and launch your brand with just one unit.

30W fiber laser (1064nm) — for metal marking on stainless steel, gold, silver, copper, brass, titanium, aluminum, and similar alloys. Permanent black marking for logos, serial numbers, barcodes, QR codes, jewelry inscriptions, and product identification at production speed.

20W diode laser (455nm) — for non-metal engraving on wood, leather, acrylic, MDF, rubber, bamboo, paper, fabric, and compatible coated surfaces. The 455nm wavelength is efficiently absorbed by organic and polymer materials, producing the clean engraving results that non-metal personalization and gift production requires.

Both lasers share the same focal length — switching sources doesn't require refocusing. One-touch autofocus handles the rest.

OMTech Solis Duo 30W Fiber & 20W Diode Dual Laser Engraver with Autofocus

One-Touch Autofocus — Less Setup, More Production

Manual focus adjustment is one of the most time-consuming recurring friction points in a laser production workflow. Every material height change — switching from a flat metal tag to a leather bracelet to a wood slice — requires re-measuring and adjusting the Z-axis before the job runs.

The Solis Duo 30W features one-touch autofocus that automatically detects and focuses the field lens. Simply press the button to calibrate and match the lens for accurate results.

For a shop cycling through multiple material types in a day — which is exactly the use case a dual-laser machine is built for — autofocus removes a friction point that would otherwise occur dozens of times per shift. The result is faster job turnaround, fewer setup errors, and more consistent first-mark accuracy across every material change.

Two Field Lenses — The Right Tool for Each Application

The Solis Duo 30W ships with both lenses in the box — a meaningful practical advantage over the 20W, which includes only the 9.8" lens.

9.8" × 9.8" field lens: The standard configuration for most batch production and general marking work. Supports up to 12 pieces in a single field setup, faster throughput on repeat batches, and the full flexibility of the camera-assisted alignment workflow.

5.9" × 5.9" field lens: The tighter field concentrates the beam into a smaller, more energetically dense spot — the right configuration for fine jewelry work, small hallmarks, dense QR codes, and any application where fine feature definition matters more than large-field coverage.

Swapping between them is a physical lens change — the autofocus recalibrates automatically when you switch. Having both in the box means you're not choosing between production volume and fine detail capability — you have both.

OMTech Solis Duo 30W Fiber & 20W Diode Dual Laser Engraver with Intantly Focus With PinPoint Precision

16MP Camera — Batch Processing and Precise Placement

The 16MP HD camera quickly detects and aligns your designs for ultimate convenience — with the 9.8" × 9.8" processing area, you can capture multiple targets at once and finish larger projects faster.

The camera renders the full workbed in OMTech Lab software, enabling:

Multi-piece batch layouts — position multiple pieces across the full 9.8" field, assign designs to each, and run the full batch automatically in a single pass.

Precise placement on irregular pieces — for materials with inconsistent shapes, pre-printed surfaces, or specific alignment requirements, the camera preview confirms exact mark placement before the job runs.

Repeatable setups — once a layout works for a specific product, the camera-based positioning recreates it accurately on every subsequent batch without re-measuring.

Class 1 Enclosed — Safe in a Store, a Studio, or a Classroom

The Solis Duo 30W carries Class 1 laser safety certification — the highest classification available — achieved through a fully enclosed cabinet with tinted acrylic window and interlock design that contains laser exposure during normal operation.

For a personalization business in a retail environment where customers are present, a makerspace or school where non-operators share the space, or a compact studio where the machine operates alongside other work — Class 1 enclosure is a practical requirement, not a luxury.

The tinted window allows visual monitoring of the job in progress without opening the enclosure. Independent exhaust ports accommodate a fume extractor (optional add-on) — recommended for sustained diode laser operation on wood and acrylic where fume generation is more significant.

Extend to 35.4" With the Optional Conveyor

The standard working area is 9.8" × 9.8" (250 × 250mm). With the optional conveyor system, the effective processing length extends to 9.8" × 35.4" (250 × 900mm) — enabling continuous long-format material runs, extended sign panels, repeat-pattern strips, and batch runs on longer stock that the standard field can't accommodate.

For businesses that produce wooden sign planks, long leather strips, full-length bracelet batches, or extended panel designs — the conveyor transforms the Solis Duo's output range significantly. Available as an optional add-on at checkout.

Control From Anywhere — Four Ways to Operate

Built-in touchscreen — on-machine control for job management, focus adjustment, laser source switching, and status monitoring.

Handheld remote controller — included and magnet-mounted to the machine body when not in use. Allows hands-free triggering from operating distance.

OMTech Lab on PC — the primary software for camera-assisted design positioning, batch layout, and full parameter control. LightBurn is also compatible for users in that ecosystem.

OMTech Lab on mobile/tablet — design and send jobs from a phone or tablet. For retail or customer-facing setups where a full PC workstation isn't practical.

Frequently Asked Questions About OMTech Solis Duo 30W Fiber & 20W Diode Dual Laser Engraver with Autofocus

Q: What are the most important advantages the 30W has over the 20W Solis Duo?
A: Three specific upgrades: autofocus, which makes engraving jobs easier by automatically detecting and focusing the field lens when switching setups; the 5.9" × 5.9" field lens included in the box (the 20W ships with only the 9.8" lens); and 30W fiber power versus 20W — providing approximately 50% more marking output for faster throughput on metal graphics and more headroom on harder metals. For any shop that switches between materials frequently or needs fine detail work on small jewelry pieces, the 30W's autofocus and dual-lens package resolves real daily friction points.

Q: When would I use the 5.9" lens vs the 9.8" lens?
A: The 9.8" field lens is the default for most production work — larger batch layouts, mixed material runs, and general marking across the full field. The 5.9" field lens concentrates the beam into a smaller, higher-energy-density spot — use it for fine jewelry marking, small hallmarks, dense QR codes at small sizes, or any application where detailed small-feature definition matters more than working area coverage. Both are included; swap between them as the job requires.

Q: Do I need to refocus when switching between the fiber and diode laser?
A: No — users won't have to refocus the laser when switching from fiber to diode or vice versa, as both lasers have the same focal length. This will significantly decrease downtime when changing jobs. The autofocus recalibrates automatically with one touch when you change field lenses or material heights, but source switching itself doesn't require refocusing.

Q: Is it safe to use in a shared space or around customers?
A: Yes — the Solis Duo 30W carries Class 1 laser safety certification, meaning the fully enclosed design brings external laser exposure to Class 1 safe levels during normal closed-lid operation. The tinted window allows job monitoring without opening the enclosure. This certification makes it appropriate for retail environments, shared studios, makerspaces, and classrooms.

Q: What non-metal materials can the diode laser handle?
A: Non-metal engraving on materials such as wood, acrylic, leather, paper, rubber, fabric, and compatible plastics. The 455nm diode wavelength is efficiently absorbed by organic materials and many polymers — producing clean engraving results on the non-metal materials that personalization and gift production commonly involves.

Q: Can I engrave tumblers, rings, and cylindrical objects?
A: Yes, with a compatible rotary axis attachment. The Solis Duo 30W supports rotary accessories for cylindrical and curved surface engraving. Available as optional add-ons at checkout.

Q: How does the 16MP camera improve my workflow?
A: The camera renders the workbed live in OMTech Lab software, letting you position designs visually over the actual material — including irregular shapes, pre-printed surfaces, and multi-piece batch layouts. Once a layout is confirmed, the same camera-assisted positioning repeats it accurately on every subsequent batch. For personalization businesses running repeat products, this is what makes batch production consistent and fast.

Q: What software does it use?
A: OMTech Lab (primary — Windows and macOS, plus mobile) for camera alignment, batch layout, and job management. LightBurn is also compatible for users already in that ecosystem. Both run natively on macOS — no Windows emulation required.

Q: Why buy from The Maker's Chest instead of directly from OMTech?
A: Our 75-day return window gives you real dual-source evaluation time — enough to run both lasers through your actual materials, test autofocus in your production rhythm, and confirm the 30W configuration delivers before you're locked in. Our USA-based expert support team is reachable by phone and email for OMTech Lab and LightBurn setup, field lens selection guidance, camera alignment workflow, and production troubleshooting. If you're choosing between the 30W and 50W, we'll give you a straight recommendation.

  • 🇺🇸 Expert USA-based technical support — our team understands both fiber and diode laser operation and can help with OMTech Lab and LightBurn setup, camera alignment workflow, field lens selection for different jobs, and any production issues
  • 📞 Dual lines of support — phone and email, so when a question comes up during production, you have a direct path to a real person
  • 🔧 Straight configuration guidance — 30W or 50W Solis Duo? Should you add the conveyor from the start? Not sure if autofocus is worth the step up from the 20W? Talk to us before ordering and we'll give you a direct recommendation
