Built-In Water Chiller — The Infrastructure Decision Already Made

Every CO2 laser at 130W requires water cooling to protect the laser tube and maintain output stability during production operation. For most large-format CO2 lasers, that means sourcing a compatible external chiller (typically $400–800), routing water lines, managing coolant, and adding a secondary piece of equipment to the installation footprint.

The Pro 3655 130W integrates a TEYU RMCW-5200 water chiller directly inside the machine — one of the most trusted industrial CO2 laser chiller brands, used across professional production laser installations.

For a production shop planning a laser installation, this makes a meaningful practical difference:

No separate chiller purchase. The chiller cost is built into the machine price — you know the total investment upfront.

No installation complexity. Water lines are pre-routed inside the machine. No external connections to configure, no chiller footprint to plan for beside the machine.

No coolant management gaps. The integrated system is designed to operate with the machine as a unit — no separate startup sequence, no independent monitoring.

For a business setting up a professional production laser station, the built-in chiller is the feature that turns a complex multi-component installation into a single machine setup.

X/Y Hybrid Servo Motors — What Separates a Production Machine From a Hobby Laser

Standard CO2 laser engravers use stepper motors for axis motion. Stepper motors are reliable, affordable, and sufficient for lower-speed, lower-accuracy applications. But for production operation at high speeds on large-format machines, stepper motors have a ceiling.

The Pro 3655 130W uses X- and Y-axis hybrid servo motors — and the production benefits are direct:

Higher acceleration and responsiveness. Servo motors reach operating speed faster and change direction faster than equivalent stepper motors — which means the 1200 mm/s maximum engraving speed is more representative of real-world throughput, not just a theoretical peak that the machine spends most of its time below.

More consistent position accuracy under load. Servo motors provide closed-loop position feedback, correcting for deviation continuously during operation. At high speed on a large bed, this matters for mark quality consistency across the full 35.4" × 55.1" field — corner marks and center marks perform at the same standard.

Lower fatigue over sustained operation. For a machine running 6–8 hours daily in a production environment, servo motors maintain consistent performance throughout the session where stepper motors can show thermal behavior at high duty cycles.

Embedded guide rails in both axes further support stable movement and even load distribution during high-speed engraving — the mechanical foundation that allows the servo system to perform at specification.

OMTech Pro 3655 130W CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver Water Chiller

35.4" × 55.1" Working Area — Large-Format Production in a Single Pass

The 35.4" × 55.1" (900 × 1400mm) working area places the Pro 3655 firmly in the large-format production category — and the 4-way pass-through extends that capacity further for material that exceeds the bed dimensions.

At this field size, the daily production capabilities shift significantly:

Full 4-foot-width material processed in segments. A 4-foot × 8-foot sheet of plywood or acrylic processes across the 35.4" width with minimal repositioning — fitting most of a full sheet in one or two indexed passes.

Large sign panels in a single setup. Commercial-scale signage that requires multiple setups on 20" × 28" machines fits within the Pro 3655's field in a single positioning — eliminating the alignment errors that accumulate across repositioned setups.

High-volume batch layouts. More bed area means more pieces per nested layout, fewer load-and-unload cycles per hour, and more output per shift from the same operator.

4-way pass-through (front, back, and sides) handles material that exceeds even the large bed dimensions — long lumber, continuous panels, and extended strips process continuously through the pass-through openings.

1200 mm/s — Production Speed With Precision Control

At 1200 mm/s maximum engraving speed, the Pro 3655 130W processes large-format batches at production rates that smaller or slower machines can't approach. Combined with the servo motor acceleration advantage, this speed is more achievable across complex artwork and varied field positions than the headline figure on lower-spec machines.

High-transmittance focus lens (63.5mm focal length) concentrates laser energy into a smaller spot for cleaner detail at production speed — the optical quality component that turns 130W of raw power into precise, consistent marks.

High-reflectivity mirrors maintain beam integrity across the larger optical path of a 35.4" × 55.1" machine — the physical scale that separates the Pro 3655's optics from those of smaller format machines.

Supporting production workflow features:

Red dot guidance makes the laser origin position visible before the job fires — confirming placement without material waste.

Air assist clears debris and cools the focus lens during cutting — maintaining cut quality across extended sessions and protecting the lens from contamination.

Air pressure sensor monitors air assist pressure and triggers an alarm if pressure drops below the set value — catching a potential cut quality issue before it becomes a batch of rejected parts.

OMTech Pro 3655 130W CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver Autofocus with Air Assist

Safety Built for a Professional Production Environment

Emergency stop button: Immediately cuts power when activated — no software navigation, no delayed response.

3-color indicator light: Blue in standby, green during active lasing, red for errors — visible from across the shop floor without needing to approach the machine to check status.

Mechanical and magnetic interlocks: Automatically cut power to the laser tube when the cover is opened during operation — no laser exposure from accidental or intentional lid opening.

External industrial fan: Removes gases and debris from the work area and assists heat dissipation during sustained production.

Built-in water chiller with monitoring: Protects the 130W tube from thermal damage throughout the production shift.

For a professional production environment where multiple operators may interact with the machine throughout the day, these safety systems form a genuine production-safe operating environment rather than a hobby-grade safety checklist.

130W vs 150W — Choosing the Right Power for Your Budget

The OMTech Pro 3655 is available in both 130W and 150W configurations. The 130W is positioned as the right starting point for shops that need high-power large-format capability without the full 150W price premium.

For most engraving-focused workflows on wood, acrylic, leather, and glass — and for cutting on standard commercial thicknesses — 130W provides excellent production throughput. The 150W adds more cutting power for the thicker end of the material range, which matters for shops regularly processing 18mm+ dense materials at high volume.

Contact our team with your typical material thicknesses and daily production volume and we'll tell you which configuration is right for your specific needs.

Frequently Asked Questions About OMTech Pro 3655 130W CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver

Q: Is the water chiller really built into the machine, or does it still need an external unit?
A: The water chiller is genuinely integrated — a TEYU RMCW-5200 is built into the machine as a standard included component, not an add-on. Water lines are pre-routed inside the machine. No separate chiller purchase, no external unit, no additional installation. This is one of the primary differentiators of the Pro 3655 from standard large-format CO2 lasers at this power level.

Q: What is the difference between the 130W and 150W Pro 3655?
A: The platform — bed size, servo motors, autofocus, built-in chiller, 4-way pass-through, safety systems, and software — is identical between 130W and 150W. The difference is laser tube output power, which translates to cutting speed and penetration on thicker materials. The 130W is the practical choice for shops whose regular cutting range is 12mm and under on most materials. The 150W adds cutting headroom on thicker stock for shops that regularly push that ceiling. Contact our team with your specific material thicknesses and we'll recommend which is right.

Q: Why do the servo motors matter for a CO2 laser?
A: X/Y hybrid servo motors provide closed-loop position feedback, faster acceleration, and more consistent accuracy under load than stepper motors at equivalent speeds. On a 35.4" × 55.1" machine at 1200 mm/s, this translates to marks that are consistent in quality from the center to the corners of the field across a full production shift — and real-world throughput that's more representative of the maximum speed rating than it would be on a lower-spec motion system.

Q: What is the laser tube service life?
A: 11,000 hours estimated service life — extended further when consistently operated at lower power settings. At 8 hours daily, 250 working days per year, that's approximately 5.5 years of rated tube life.

Q: What materials can it engrave and cut?
A: Engraving: Wood, acrylic, leather, glass, paper, cardboard, MDF/plywood, rubber, fabric, marble, foam, fiberglass, and treated or coated metals. Cutting: Wood, acrylic, paper/cardboard, MDF/plywood, leather, fabric, rubber, and foam. Cannot cut bare sheet metal.

Q: What is the shipping and installation footprint?
A: The Pro 3655 130W weighs 1,190 lbs. (540 kg) and ships via freight. Overall dimensions are 78" × 65.7" × 42.3". Confirm floor load capacity, installation space, adequate clearance for pass-through material and operator movement, and exhaust ducting access before the machine ships. Contact our team for pre-delivery planning guidance.

Q: Is LightBurn compatible?
A: Yes — LightBurn is compatible and is the preferred production software for most users. A LightBurn license is included free with this machine, courtesy of The Maker’s Chest. Runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. RDWorks V8 is also compatible for Windows users.

Q: Why buy from The Maker's Chest instead of directly from OMTech?
A: Our 75-day return window gives you real production evaluation time — enough to run the machine through your actual large-format workloads and confirm it performs before you're locked in. Our USA-based expert support team is reachable by phone and email for LightBurn and controller setup, chiller operation, servo motor calibration, and production troubleshooting throughout your ownership. If you're choosing between 130W and 150W, we'll give you a straight recommendation.

  • 🛡️ 75-day returns — significantly longer than OMTech's direct return window. Enough time to receive the machine, complete installation, run your actual production materials through the large bed, and confirm the 130W Pro 3655 delivers what your business requires before you're committed
  • 🇺🇸 Expert USA-based technical support — our team can help with Ruida controller and LightBurn setup, chiller monitoring, autofocus calibration, exhaust and air assist configuration, servo motor tuning, and any production issues that arise during ramp-up
  • 📞 Dual lines of support — phone and email, so when production is running and something needs attention, you have a direct path to a real person
  • 🔧 Straight pre-sale guidance — 130W or 150W Pro 3655? Not sure which power level is right for your material range and daily cutting volume? Tell us what you process and we'll give you a direct recommendation before you order

  • This service utilises power tailgates with two-man crews or crane trucks when required and this is included in the quoted price.
  • The receiver will be contacted prior to delivery to arrange a suitable delivery date and time. Deliveries are scheduled for either an AM or PM slot on any given day.
  • Delivery is to front car port, driveway, doorstep or wherever practical depending upon site access. Drivers are not permitted to move item(s) within the residence or around the property due to OHS reasons.
  • This service assumes reasonable and safe access to the site is available. Overhanging trees, steep driveways, unsealed driveways, narrow driveways or streets or an unforeseen obstruction may deem the delivery unavailable.
  • If your delivery address is in a regional or remote location, we recommend shipping to the nearest depot as the most affordable option.
