OMTech Galvo 50W Compact Integrated Fiber Laser Marker Specifications

50W vs. 20W Compact Integrated — What the Power Difference Actually Means

The OMTech compact integrated galvo line spans 20W and 50W configurations sharing the same physical platform. Both weigh 36 lbs., measure 15.7" × 13.3" × 21.6", and use the same dual red dot locators, LightBurn compatibility, and integrated design. The wattage difference is the only meaningful specification change — and it matters for specific use cases.

Marking depth per pass. At 50W, the machine drives deeper into harder metals in fewer passes. For shops marking hardened tool steel, thick stainless components, or any application where depth permanence matters for traceability or regulatory compliance, 50W provides output that 20W approaches but doesn't match.

Throughput on complex graphics. Dense QR codes, detailed logos, and multi-element artwork require more laser energy per unit area to complete cleanly. Higher wattage completes these efficiently without the operator needing to run multiple passes or slow the marking speed to compensate.

Production headroom during long shifts. Running a 20W machine at near-maximum output for extended periods accelerates thermal load accumulation. A 50W machine completing the same job at lower relative output stays cooler, produces more consistent marks across a long session, and extends component life under sustained use.

For occasional or light-volume marking — small personalization jobs, casual maker projects, jewelry studios processing individual pieces — the 20W integrated is a cost-appropriate choice. For shops where the fiber laser runs throughout the day on demanding work, the 50W is the smarter long-term investment.

Sino-Galvo Scanning System — Industrial-Grade Optics in a Desktop Package

The Galvo 50W uses a Sino-Galvo scanning system with an F-Theta field lens — the combination that maintains consistent beam spot quality and marking accuracy across the full 5.9" × 5.9" working area, not just the center.

Standard galvo systems with inferior field lenses produce progressively distorted marks as the beam moves toward the edges of the working field. The F-Theta lens in the Galvo 50W is specifically designed to maintain consistent focal length and beam quality across the entire field — meaning your logo looks as clean in the corner of the field as it does in the center, and your QR codes scan reliably wherever they land on the workpiece.

This matters in production settings where parts are laid out across the full field to maximize throughput, and consistency across the field directly affects the accept/reject rate of the output.

OMTech Galvo 50W Compact Integrated Fiber Laser Marker Scanning System

36 Lbs. One Piece. A Production Machine You Can Actually Move.

At 36 lbs. in a single integrated chassis, the Galvo 50W's portability is genuine — not a marketing claim. A single person carries it between workstations, loads it into a vehicle for job-site or event work, stores it in a cabinet between sessions, or sets it up in a temporary space for specific projects.

For a production shop where the machine serves multiple work cells throughout the day, this mobility is a direct operational advantage. For makers working from a home studio where space is shared with other uses, a 36 lb. machine that can be cleared and stored is categorically different from a fixed workstation that occupies its footprint permanently.

The 100,000-hour rated laser service life on the fiber source means this is also a machine you buy once. At 8 hours daily use, 250 working days per year, that's approximately 50 years of rated operation before the source approaches end of life.

10,000 mm/s — The Galvo Advantage Over Gantry Systems

The Galvo 50W's 10,000 mm/s speed comes from the fundamental architecture of galvo laser systems: high-speed scanning mirrors redirect the laser beam without physically moving the laser head or any mechanical mass. No inertia at direction changes, no acceleration penalty, no deceleration loss at corners — just instantaneous beam redirection at the full rated speed.

The practical result: a logo that takes several minutes on a gantry CO₂ machine completes in seconds. A batch of 20 serial numbers that would require most of a shift on a conventional machine finishes in a fraction of the time. For a personalization business where machine time directly limits revenue per day, this speed advantage compounds across every order.

At ±0.01mm marking accuracy, the 50W holds this precision across the full working field at production speeds — fine text remains legible, QR code cells are clean and scannable, logo artwork has crisp edges — with the field-wide consistency that the Sino-Galvo system provides.

OMTech Galvo 50W Compact Integrated Fiber Laser Marker Dual Red Dot Locators

Dual Red Dot Locators — Correct Placement Before Every Mark

For marking applications where placement precision matters — a logo centered on a nameplate, a serial number in a specific location on a component, artwork positioned correctly on a jewelry piece — the dual red dot locators eliminate the test-burn calibration cycle.

Before the laser fires, two visible red dots project onto the material surface, showing both the center point and the marking field boundary. Position your workpiece to align with the red dot references and trigger the job — first mark lands where it's supposed to, every time.

Compared to single-dot systems (which show only one reference) or no locators at all, the dual system provides complete placement feedback in a single visual check. For production setups where consistency across a batch matters more than any individual piece, this repeatability is the feature that keeps reject rates low.

Compatible Materials — Metal is the Core

The Galvo 50W's 1064nm fiber wavelength is optimized for metal and performs well across the full range of marking applications on compatible surfaces:

Metals (primary application): Stainless steel, brass, aluminum, gold, silver, titanium, copper, carbide, iron, and most alloys. Fast, permanent black marking for logos, serial numbers, barcodes, QR codes, and detailed artwork.

Hard non-metals: Granite, stone, carbide — surface ablation and marking.

Compatible surfaces: Select hard plastics, leather, and coated metal items depending on material composition.

What to be clear about: This is a standard galvo fiber laser — it marks metal in black and white. It is not a MOPA machine and does not produce color marks on stainless steel or titanium. For color marking, the OMTech MOPA 60W is the appropriate machine. For cutting wood, acrylic, or thick non-metal material, a CO₂ laser is the correct tool. Within its design scope — high-speed black marking on metal for serial numbers, logos, barcodes, personalization, and traceability — the Galvo 50W excels.

LightBurn and EzCad — Your Choice, Both Supported

The Galvo 50W is compatible with LightBurn galvo mode on both Windows and macOS — native macOS support without Parallels or Boot Camp required. For operators already working in LightBurn across CO₂ or other laser machines, the interface and workflow transfer directly.

EzCad is bundled with the machine on USB drive for Windows users who prefer the traditional galvo fiber laser control software.

Supported file formats include BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, DXF, DST, and AI.

Frequently Asked Questions about OMTech Galvo 50W Compact Integrated Fiber Laser Marker

Q: What makes the 50W the highest-power compact integrated fiber laser, and who actually needs it?
A: The Galvo 50W is the top-power variant in OMTech's compact integrated galvo lineup. Compared to the 20W integrated, it delivers deeper marking per pass on harder metals, faster throughput on complex graphics and dense batch runs, and more operating headroom during sustained production shifts. Users who benefit most: small manufacturers and machine shops marking steel components and production parts; personalization shops running the laser throughout the day at high volume; and anyone whose 20W machine has become a production bottleneck.

Q: Does this machine produce color marks?
A: No. This is a standard galvo fiber laser — it marks metal in black and white. For color marking on stainless steel and titanium, a MOPA laser source with adjustable pulse width and frequency is required. The OMTech MOPA 60W Integrated or MOPA 60W Autofocus are the correct machines for color marking applications.

Q: What's the difference between the integrated 50W and the autofocus workstation 50W?
A: Same laser power, marking speed, accuracy, and galvo technology. Different physical format and focus method. The integrated 50W (this machine) is compact, all-in-one, 36 lbs., with manual reference-spacer focus. The autofocus workstation 50W is a larger arm-and-column machine with motorized one-click autofocus and a larger workbed. Choose the integrated for space efficiency, portability, and consistent material height work. Choose the autofocus workstation when you switch frequently between materials of different heights and want autofocus to handle the focal adjustment each time.

Q: What is the Sino-Galvo scanning system and why does it matter?
A: Sino-Galvo is an industrial-grade galvanometer scanning system with an F-Theta field lens that maintains consistent beam spot quality and marking accuracy across the full 5.9" × 5.9" working field — not just at the center. Lower-quality scanning systems produce increasingly distorted or defocused marks as the beam moves toward field edges. The Sino-Galvo system ensures consistent mark quality across the entire field, which matters for batch production where parts are spread across the full working area.

Q: Can I engrave tumblers, rings, and cylindrical objects?
A: Yes, with an optional rotary axis attachment connecting to the machine's built-in rotary port. The rotary enables marking on rings, bracelets, pens, tumblers, and cylindrical parts. Add it at checkout or contact our team for guidance on which rotary configuration fits your specific piece range.

Q: Is it compatible with macOS?
A: Yes — LightBurn galvo mode runs natively on macOS with no workarounds required. EzCad requires Windows (7, 8, 10, or 11). Mac users can use LightBurn as the primary interface with full galvo functionality.

Q: What is the laser source lifespan?
A: 100,000 hours estimated service life. At 8 hours daily, 250 working days per year, that's approximately 50 years of rated operation. The laser source is functionally a lifetime component under normal workshop use.

Q: What's included in the box?
A: Fiber laser engraver unit, tool box, protective eyewear, USB flash drive with software, ruler, USB cable, set of hex wrenches, and instruction manual.

Q: Why buy from The Maker's Chest instead of directly from OMTech?
A: Our 75-day return window gives you real production evaluation time — enough to run the machine through your actual marking workloads and confirm the 50W configuration delivers the throughput and quality your business needs. Our USA-based expert support team is reachable by phone and email for LightBurn and EzCad setup, parameter optimization, rotary configuration, and ongoing production support. If you're deciding between power levels or between the integrated and autofocus formats, we'll give you a straight recommendation before you order.

Home Delivery (Bulky Items)

  • This service is generally for products over 40kg in weight, as it is a requirement for these products to be palletised for delivery.
  • This service utilises power tailgates with two-man crews or crane trucks when required and this is included in the quoted price.
  • The receiver will be contacted prior to delivery to arrange a suitable delivery date and time. Deliveries are scheduled for either an AM or PM slot on any given day.
  • Delivery is to front car port, driveway, doorstep or wherever practical depending upon site access. Drivers are not permitted to move item(s) within the residence or around the property due to OHS reasons.
  • This service assumes reasonable and safe access to the site is available. Overhanging trees, steep driveways, unsealed driveways, narrow driveways or streets or an unforeseen obstruction may deem the delivery unavailable.
  • If your delivery address is in a regional or remote location, we recommend shipping to the nearest depot as the most affordable option.

We can't advise on the exact time and day the delivery will occur as this is not within our control, however you will be emailed the tracking details where you will be able to contact the freight company for more accurate timeframes.
