Description

700W of Fiber Laser Power, a Touchscreen Interface, and No TIG Torch in Sight

The Herolaser T700 Pro pairs a 700W fiber laser source with an onboard touchscreen control panel — no smartphone app required to set your parameters and pull the trigger.

Most shops that need to weld stainless, aluminum, or carbon steel still default to TIG because it's what they know — even though TIG demands years of torch control, filler-rod timing, and post-weld grinding to get a clean bead. A 700W handheld fiber laser welder collapses that learning curve: the laser does the heat-affected-zone control that used to live in a welder's hands, so a new operator can run a straight, low-spatter seam in an afternoon instead of a year of practice welds.

The T700 Pro is Herolaser's screen-equipped portable welder, built for shops and makers who want full control at the machine itself rather than through a phone. It handles stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and copper, and its handheld head is also rated for surface cleaning and rust removal at up to 100mm of cleaning width per pass — so one machine covers weld prep and finish work along with the joining itself.

Herolaser T700 Pro 700W Portable Fiber Laser Welder handheld welding stainless steel and metal fabrication

700W Fiber Source — Enough Heat for Real Fabrication Work, Not Just Hobby Repairs

The T700 Pro runs a 700W fiber laser, the same power class shops reach for when 60-100W diode "laser welders" marketed to hobbyists can't hold a consistent bead on anything thicker than sheet metal. Fiber lasers deliver their energy in a tightly focused beam rather than the diffuse arc a TIG torch produces, so the heat-affected zone stays narrow — parts warp less, and thin stainless sheet that would blue and distort under a torch stays flat under the laser. In practice, that means a fabricator can weld a stainless enclosure seam or an aluminum bracket and move straight to finishing, skipping the grinding and re-flattening pass that a TIG weld on thin material usually requires.

Onboard Touchscreen — Set Parameters Without Reaching for Your Phone

Where Herolaser's base-tier 700W welder (the T700) is controlled entirely through a companion smartphone app with no built-in display, the T700 Pro adds a touchscreen control panel directly on the machine. That matters most in a working shop environment: gloved hands, poor cell signal near metal enclosures, and a phone that's easier to drop than a panel that's bolted to the cart. Dialing in power, pulse settings, and mode switches (weld, clean, cut) at the machine itself is faster and more reliable than pairing a phone over Bluetooth every time you want to change a setting mid-job.

Herolaser T700 Pro 700W Portable Fiber Laser Welder touchscreen control panel and welding settings

Built-In Cleaning Mode — Strip Rust and Prep Metal Before You Ever Strike an Arc

Beyond welding, the T700 Pro's handheld head doubles as a laser cleaner with a rated cleaning width of over 100mm (3.9 in) per pass. A dedicated benchtop rust-removal tool or an abrasive blaster does this job as a separate purchase and a separate setup; here it's the same head and the same machine, so weld-seam prep (stripping mill scale or surface rust off the joint area) and post-weld cleanup happen without swapping equipment. For a shop restoring metal parts or prepping painted/coated surfaces before welding, that consolidation is the difference between one machine on the cart and three.

Herolaser T700 Pro 700W Portable Fiber Laser Welder laser cleaning rust and surface preparation mode

Multi-Metal Capability — One Machine for Stainless, Carbon Steel, Aluminum, and Copper

The T700 Pro is rated for stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and copper — the four metals that cover the overwhelming majority of fabrication, automotive, and metal-art work. A stick or MIG welder set up for steel typically needs a different process, gas mix, or even a different machine entirely to handle aluminum cleanly; a fiber laser welder uses the same 700W source and the same handheld head across all four, with the operator adjusting power and pulse settings rather than swapping consumables or shielding gas types. That versatility is why shops that fabricate mixed-material assemblies — say, a stainless bracket welded to an aluminum frame — reach for a laser welder instead of maintaining two separate rigs.

Herolaser T700 Pro 700W Portable Fiber Laser Welder clean stainless steel weld seam and metal welding results

Portable, Handheld Form Factor — Bring the Weld to the Part

The T700 Pro is a portable, handheld-head system, not a fixed CNC welding cell — the operator moves the head to the joint rather than clamping the workpiece into a stationary machine. That matters for anything too large, too awkward, or too fixed-in-place to bring to a bench: railing repairs, in-place enclosure welds, or fabrication work happening directly on a job-site part. A bench-mounted or CNC laser welder is faster on repetitive small parts, but it can't reach a weld seam on something bolted to a wall or too big to lift onto a table — the T700 Pro's portability is the trade a shop makes to cover that work.

Fewer Consumables, Less Post-Weld Grinding

Because the laser's heat-affected zone is narrower than an arc process, welds generally come out with less spatter and a cleaner bead, which cuts down the amount of grinding and finishing work after each joint. TIG and MIG both rely on filler rod/wire and shielding gas as ongoing consumables with every weld; laser welding uses wire only when a bead needs to be built up, and the reduced post-weld cleanup translates into real time saved per part across a production run — a meaningful difference for a shop billing by the job rather than the hour.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Herolaser T700 Pro 700W Portable Fiber Laser Welder

Q: What's the difference between the T700 Pro and the standard Herolaser T700?
A: The T700 Pro adds an onboard touchscreen control panel so you can set welding, cleaning, and cutting parameters directly at the machine. The standard T700 is controlled entirely through Herolaser's companion smartphone app and has no built-in display, but includes an automatic wire feeder and is priced $1,000 lower.
Q: What metals can the T700 Pro weld?
A: Stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and copper — the manufacturer's stated compatible materials for this model.
Q: Do I need TIG or MIG welding experience to use this machine?
A: No prior welding certification is required. Laser welding narrows the heat-affected zone compared to an open arc, which makes it significantly more forgiving for someone without years of torch-control practice — though basic safety training and following the included documentation is still necessary before first use.
Q: Is a handheld laser welder safe to use in a home workshop?
A: Handheld laser welders require the same category of precautions as any Class 4 laser device: proper laser safety eyewear rated for the unit's wavelength, adequate ventilation for weld fumes, and keeping bystanders (especially without eye protection) out of the beam path. Follow the included documentation and any local regulations for laser equipment before operating it in a home or shared shop.
Q: What power/outlet does the T700 Pro require?
A: Contact TMC or Herolaser to confirm your circuit requirements before purchase if you're planning around a specific outlet or panel capacity.
Q: Can the T700 Pro also clean rust and prep metal surfaces?
A: Yes. The same handheld head doubles as a laser cleaner rated for over 100mm of cleaning width per pass, so you can strip rust or mill scale from a joint before welding and clean up the surface afterward without switching machines.
Q: Is the warranty valid when I buy the T700 Pro through The Maker's Chest?
A: Yes. The Maker's Chest is an authorized Herolaser reseller, and Herolaser's 1-year manufacturer's warranty applies in full to units purchased through us.
Q: What's The Maker's Chest's return policy on the T700 Pro?
A: The T700 Pro is covered under The Maker's Chest's standard 75-day return window, unlike some brands in our catalog that carry return exclusions.
Q: Why buy the T700 Pro from The Maker's Chest instead of directly from Herolaser?
A: You get the same manufacturer warranty plus pre-sale guidance from a reseller who can help you decide between the T700 and T700 Pro (or a different wattage tier entirely) before you buy, along with The Maker's Chest's standard return window and support.

The above is intended to be used as a guide, and may not apply in all cases. Some products may have specific 'Delivery Timeframe' information, which can be found on its own tab, or on the main 'Description' tab of the product.

Home Delivery (Bulky Items)

  • This service is generally for products over 40kg in weight, as it is a requirement for these products to be palletised for delivery.
  • This service utilises power tailgates with two-man crews or crane trucks when required and this is included in the quoted price.
  • The receiver will be contacted prior to delivery to arrange a suitable delivery date and time. Deliveries are scheduled for either an AM or PM slot on any given day.
  • Delivery is to front car port, driveway, doorstep or wherever practical depending upon site access. Drivers are not permitted to move item(s) within the residence or around the property due to OHS reasons.
  • This service assumes reasonable and safe access to the site is available. Overhanging trees, steep driveways, unsealed driveways, narrow driveways or streets or an unforeseen obstruction may deem the delivery unavailable.
  • If your delivery address is in a regional or remote location, we recommend shipping to the nearest depot as the most affordable option.

Other Terms & Conditions

If you happen to miss the delivery, you will be required to pick up your item(s) from the freight company's depot. Re-delivery can be arranged to your home, however this will incur extra costs.

We can't advise on the exact time and day the delivery will occur as this is not within our control, however you will be emailed the tracking details where you will be able to contact the freight company for more accurate timeframes.

It is your responsibility to advise us if:

  • someone will be available to sign for delivery.
  • there's somewhere safe the item can be left if no one will be home.
  • if the address is a business address, as we will require the business hours of the business and name of the building.
  • you notice any damage. If so, you should make note of it when signing for delivery or do not agree to accept the delivery. If you do accept delivery you are required to immediately take photos using your smart phone or camera of the damaged packaging or products inside the packaging. If your item(s) do arrived damaged please send photos to support@themakerschest.com, then visit our returns page and lodge your return claim online.
